• The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow by Tom Gibson

  • A Short history based on the portraits and other memorabilia by Tom Gibson.

This book uses the collection of portraits held in the art collection of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as a basis for approaching the history of the College itself.  The book contains fine colour reproductions of the portraits, with biographical sketches of the subjects arranged in their historical context.  Portraits include those of William Cullen, founder of the Glasgow University Medical School, Joseph Black, discoverer of carbon dioxide and latent heat and David Livingstone, explorer and missionary.
